Soda Butte

Soda Butte

We spent quite a bit of time in this area of the Lamar Valley, hoping to see wolves. (We never did - this time.)

We did see grizzly sow and cub, bald eagles, osprey, bison, elk and proghorm. You can actually see swallows nests on the lower left cornor of the butte.

That's my Sweetie Pie with eagle eyes. Animal watching in Yellowstone is a lot like tidepooling along our San Mateo coastline. You gotta slow down, relax your eyes, and gently scan. You begin to 'know' what the landscape is, and then when something moves, or you see a color that seems out of place, you focus and concentrate. And then you're rewarded for your patience!
