Salt Point Sea Eagle
We were actually enjoying a pair of ospreys hover right over us - watching them occasionally dive into the surf, sometimes striking out, sometimes with their next meal.
The osprey is the only raptor who's diet is 99% fish. It's not uncommon to find them along the shoreline in this area of northern California.
We also noticed them along the rivers in and around Yellowstone last year. In fact, we saw a lot of "osprey houses" - large birdhouses built on telephone poles! I suspect these were placed to keep the ospreys off the power lines that often follow rivers.
